Howest University College West Flanders

In 1995 Howest University College West Flanders became an autonomous Higher Education Institution after the merger of six prominent institutions in Flanders, Belgium. Since then the development within Howest has taken on a fresh impetus and we are now one of the leading providers of higher education in the province.

Howest stands for an atypical, creative, innovative and entrepreneurial university college, with four campuses in Bruges and Kortrijk. Over 6000 full-time students are enrolled at Howest today, pursuing a degree in one of its 23 Professional Bachelors in the fields of Business & Organisation, Design & Technology or People & Well-being. The educational opportunities emphasise high-quality and practice-oriented courses. Around 800 lecturers and staff contribute to the development of the students into T-shaped professionals with the relevant employability skills, knowledge and attitudes for the jobs of the future.

Howest sets the tone for socially relevant, practice- and valorisation-oriented education, research and services to society, with a broad regional and international outlook, and extensive internal and external quality assurance frameworks. Both students and staff integrate Howest’s values in their daily life: that is to Serve, Empower and Care.
